I think we all have ‘those’ days. The ones where you’ve given up, feel like there’s nothing you can do to make a change, and have lost a little hope inside. But then, you find something that makes it all worthwhile.

Movements like this or the movie Pay it Forward just inspire something inside of me. Has anyone else heard/seen anything that moved them lately?

Music? Design? One in the same?

Does anyone see the large similarities of music and design? We’re both trying to communicate something while appeal to an audience. The aesthetic you get when seeing (or in this case, hearing) something truly remarkable can leave you breathless. Personally, I love the combination of creativity with the analytical thought process behind it; call it “smart art”. There are so many layers to a work of art, whether it be a poster design or the newest hit on the radio. I’m truly fascinated by the creative process.

So, what do you all think? Anything trigger in your head while reading his blog posts (or even my comments)? Can you think of some better comparisons with design, or additional thoughts to music and design?

P.S. I’m really hoping for some contribution on this post. I think it’s a decent discussion topic, in my humble opinion.

Leaving our mark

So, as I sit in the Nurse’s Office today, I stumbled upon the idea of leaving our mark. At Whitmer, I think people have seen/heard of our program, but I feel like we’re not giving a fair representation of ourselves. I wonder if we could market ourselves and the program somehow this year. The DGD class of 2010 is one worth remembering; how do we make them remember us? Should we try for a “senior showcase” approach or go a completely different route? Anyone willing to contribute some ideas to run by Anderson?

Seven little letters, one big headache. Personally, college hasn’t exactly left my brain lately. Between finding the perfect school to scholarships, we all find ourselves in deep water our senior year. How do they expect us to avoid getting caught in the undertow? Dates flash by faster than you can keep up, and pretty soon, you’re in struggling to keep afloat.

On Saturday, October 31, 7 of our classmates took a trip to Ann Arbor, Michigan for National Portfolio Day. Personally, I found myself feeling reassured. All of these schools were available at my fingertips, willing to look over my work and decide whether anything I’ve been doing was worthwhile. All it took, was one professor, from one university, with one compliment, to bring a smile to my face.

And so, here I stop to ask a question. What would it take to ease some of your college woes? A stranger’s approval of your portfolio? A golden ticket to the college of your choice? Free tuition to a school? What would it take to settle your mind?

Is this going to be the same old ordeal with the same 4 people being involved? If there’s some confusion, I’m more than willing to lend a hand or attempt a “tutorial” on how to operate wordpress.
